Heavy lifting can be very hazardous if done incorrectly. Label Source's manual handling signs are designed to promote lifting safety, educate workers, and minimise the likelihood of accidents and injuries.
We sell a variety of heavy lifting signs, labels, and notices. These can be used to:
- Highlight heavy loads
- Specify safe lifting procedures
- Recommend the use of handling aids (e.g. forklifts)
- Identify the 'heavy end' of a load
- Specify item weight
Our lifting safety signs will help you to comply with the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 (and the amendments in 2002), which refer to the lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing, pulling, or supporting of heavy loads. The regulations recommend a three-part approach: automating the process wherever practically possible (by the use of cranes, conveyors, hoists, pallet trucks or forklifts); undertaking a risk assessment* where manual lifting is unavoidable; and, finally, reducing the potential risk by introducing mechanical aids, such as sack trolleys, wheeled trolleys etc.
*Your risk assessment should cover the type of task (ie. bending, stooping, twisting), the individual (their strength, et cetera), the type of load (bulky, difficult to grasp, hot, cold, sharp), and the environment (uneven floors, poor lighting, poor ventilation, slippery surfaces).

Heavy Lifting & Manual Handling Signs - Further Details:
Label Source's sign and label range covers heavy loads, the use of handling aids, two person handling, unbalanced loads, and weight details. Our manual handling and heavy lifting signs remind employees to follow procedures such as correct lifting and stacking, the use of handling aids, seeking assistance where appropriate, and following the correct lifting guidelines.
Following lifting safety guidelines if you want to avoid musculoskeletal disorders and other injuries. Failing to observe the relevant regulations can also result in heavy loads being dropped, leading to damaged goods and severe injuries.
