220V is a particular level of electrical potential from a power source, or in simpler terms, the strength of the push given to make electrons flow through an electrical cable. 220V is the standard household voltage in dozens of countries, including China, Saudi Arabia, Chile, Egypt, the U.A.E, and South Korea.  This is then used to power typical household appliances, such as TVs, fridges, and microwaves.

In many countries there is a legal requirement to mark the voltage with a 220V warning label, including the following that we sell:

220V Electrical warning label
220 volt electrical warning label. Part of our electrical equipment label range. Size 20mm x 20mm. Self adhesive vinyl. Supplied in packs of 100 labels.
Price From: £9.42 (inc VAT)
(£7.85 ex VAT)

220V AC Electrical warning label
220 volt AC electrical warning label. Part of our electrical equipment label range. Size 19mm x 38mm. Self adhesive vinyl. Supplied in packs of 100.
Price From: £9.84 (inc VAT)
(£8.20 ex VAT)

However, despite the warnings, it is unlikely that 220V would kill an otherwise healthy person; the individual would only experience a painful shock. It would however pose more serious danger to individuals with underlying heart conditions and other health issues.

Why use 220V over other voltages?

Many countries use lower voltages such as 110V or 120V. Although lower voltages are safer than higher voltages, higher voltages allow for thinner electrical cables whilst achieving the same level of electrical current.

BBC Headquarters

If you've been near the internet this weekend, you may have witnessed Gemma Collins solidify her status as the queen of memes by falling through a trapped door hole. Even though Gemma stated she was fine right after, dubbing herself an Essex 'Bridget Jones', it is rumored she may be looking to sue the BBC.

Here's that fall one more time for those of you who may have missed it.

Speaking on ITV's this morning, Gemma stated that she was not allowed to speculate on whether the hole was clearly marked or if she had been contacted by the BBC about the incident. Gemma has taken the fall in good spirits but speculated that there's a chance it may have been fatal. She is currently suffering from bruising and shock, but believes things could've taken a darker turn.

The Radio 1 press office has issued a statement which claims it takes health and safety very seriously and are awaiting a full report from the production company, Remedy, who made the show. They said that Gemma did receive a full briefing prior to going on stage.

We're sure this won't be the last we hear of this! However, Gemma has said that all will be forgiven if she's allocated a spot on next years Strictly Come Dancing.

We think the BBC could've avoided this health and safety hazard by using a few of these signs to warn poor Gemma while she was up on stage...

Food Hygiene Signs

For anyone who had ever suffered from food poisoning, you know exactly how important food hygiene (and food hygiene signs) are. When unhygienic mistakes are made in the kitchen, people can become dangerously sick. Therefore, it is paramount to always take the proper precautions to ensure hygiene is being taken seriously. It can also land companies in hot water, as breaking food hygiene laws can be met with a serious fine

Of course, you hope whoever is preparing food is fully aware of the food hygiene regulations (which you can read more about here) but having food hygiene signs can be a great reminder. These food hygiene signs are used to remind people to wash their hands, wear appropriate clothing and how the kitchen is organised to promote food safety. Not only are they great for the team, they're especially good for new staff who may not yet be accustomed to food hygiene rules.

We have a wide range of food hygiene sings here at Label Source - view our whole collection of kitchen safety signs here. Here's a look at just a few in the collection:

No one wants hair in their food! Make sure you remind staff to wear a hair net with this useful food hygiene sign.

Cross-contamination between raw and cooked food can make people seriously ill. Make your dedicated areas clear with this 'raw food preparation' food hygiene sign

You must have a sink in a professional kitchen that is only for washing hands. Make sure it's clear which one this is with this 'Wash Hands Only' food hygiene sign.

Chemical Resistant Labels

Here at Label Source we provide a huge selection of labels which are specifically designed for the hazard prevention and identification process, offering a flexible and reliable safety solution to all sorts of businesses and organisations.

While it is highly important that these labels are visually clear and recognisable, it is also important to ensure that these labels are reliable and resilient, particularly in the most demanding workspaces. There would be little use for a chemical label that can not withstand the very chemical it warns against, which is why we supply chemical resistant labels. We ensure that our safety labels are made with the ability to withstand damage from several external factors, without compromising the quality of the message being presented.

Our high-quality chemical resistant labels are able to resist damage from oils and solvents, and can also be used in moisture-heavy environments thanks to their waterproof nature. In addition to these advantages, chemical resistant labels are also able to prevent scratches and abrasions from damaging their surface, for further protection. We have a huge range of chemical resistant labels that allow you to find what you need.

Here are just some of the chemical resistant labels we provide:

Hand Protection Chemical Resistant Label

This chemical resistant label is used to promote the use of PPE in hazardous work environments and comes in a choice of 3 sizes.

Harmful Warning Chemical Resistant Label

If you're using our labels to point out chemical hazards, it stands to reason that you should also want these labels to be chemical resistant! These triangular labels are available in 3 sizes, with a variety of symbols to choose from.

Jumbo Write and Seal 'Tested' Label

Along with our mandatory symbol range, we also have a variety of customisable, chemical resistant labels, including those in our write and seal range.
